Amazon no delivery before 25/4

Amazon have deprioritised everything they consider non-essential.

However, there are other sellers on Amazon who will deliver sooner.....

Andy,

Your main battery is in your boot. If you buy the solar panel I have linked to above you can connect a set of wires to the battery permanently that have a plug on the end. When you want to use it you attach the solar panel cable via the plug and stick the solar panel in a window.

The most complex bit is connecting the wires to the battery but once that's done all you do is plug in the solar panel. That's about as simple a solution you can get. MY23 D350 HSE

Do you guys use a charge controller to prevent discharge and overcharge?
In the L322 there is a cigaretlighter kind of plug always live, can't that be used to charge the battery, or doesn't it work in 2 directions?

remember, non tech here Embarassed

Robert,

Battery conditioners (accumate and optimate) and the solar panel I mentioned, automatically adjust the charge to avoid over charging. As apposed to battery chargers which may not have an over-charge control function. MY23 D350 HSE

So is it safe to charge (not condition) charge the battery from the posts under the bonnet? The owners manual says battery charging shouldn’t be attempted and to get LR to do it (I know that is probably just revenue creation) but I thought I better check as I know how fussy the BMS can be and I don’t want to have to go to the lengths of removing the battery(s) to charge them.

Also if you charge (or condition) the vehicle using the posts, does it charge just the main battery in the spare wheel well or will it charge the auxiliary battery too?

Thanks

I've not had a problem using a CTEK 5.0 - but clearly can't say whether others will be OK or not and whether cheaper / more basic chargers would do some kind of damage - or whether a deeper charge would cause damage.

I've also heard that the car should not be used for jump starting other vehicles - Ive done that too without a problem.

It does raise the question of that the posts are actually for though.....

My understanding is that the 2 barrettes are disconnected when the car is not running - I haven't tested whether that's ignition based, or a voltage sensing sensing relay - if the later, then may well charge both.

I guess if in doubt, disconnect the battery - but I don't think that's entirely straightforward on the L405 either......

I also see in handbook, it says don’t do anything to battery, but then, no one anticipated not using vehicle for so long.
So, just to be sure, there is no live cigarette point in car where one can attach a conditioner?
Second point. I’ve found this from a past life, does anyone know for sure if it is a charger and therefor not a conditioner?

Does the one in the boot area stay live ?

It's not possible to provide assurances - the RR electronics seem somewhat fragile to electrical spikes or interference, hence the general advice not to do anything.

The Porsche one is likely safe as their cars are likely as sensitive as RR's - I'd use it, but it's ultimately your decision....

Socket in boot doesn’t stay live in my car.
Once engine is shut off it stays live for about 5 mins then cuts. If I lock the car, then power is cut immediately.
