Its definitely a missing hose. It could be the solenoid for the inlet isolation valve for the secondary turbo which is located directly below but the valve not operating would cause various air-flow faults so probably not for that valve. I can have a look at mine in a while. |

Looking at the parts diagram the missing pipe appears to be the one going to the turbo isolation valve, part number LR022879 - pipe, vacuum control to turbo valve. I'll have a look at mine within the hour. |

Yes, it is what I thought. The pipe runs upwards a little before jumping forwards to then run down the side of the radiator to the turbo isolation valve. There should be several faults for inlet air pressure discrepancy etc.

Thanks Johnboy. I was able to compare the picture with the workshop manual accessory belt diagram to get my bearings then fortunate that the solenoid was visible. If it had been anywhere else on the engine I probably would have been lost. |

Cheers guys for your help this has clarified the issue thank you very much, indeed I do have the radiator of at the moment I needed to change the alternator , and a few more things as she was a cat N salvage , damage Was limited to bumper and car ash bar so easy repair ,not had time to put it back together until now This is what she looks like at the moment

I must of pulled the pipe of when I stripped it down ( that’s the trouble leaving it to long you tend to forget) 🤣 the fan was a pig to undo hellish tight 1990 3.5 v8 defender

Ok will check this out , I did read a brief note about the turbo drain mod which appears to be a pig of a job🤔 1990 3.5 v8 defender

Change the water pump while you're in there |

And while you are there to the tensioner and pulleys on the drive belts and the belts....sooooo much easier now. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
