Fit a receicer hitch to the front and have a winch that can be installed as needed. Have that fo my Discovery 2 which allows front and rear fitting Current cars

Yes that's the guy, saw his project on another site - great stuff, I couldn't even start to replicate what he did - don't have the skills but it can be done!

Also means you don't need to carry a winch around just for the sake of it, however I kept mine in the boot and used it in anger after skidding in a deep puddle on an A class road and ended up in a ditch.
