L322 Continuous Beep at motorway speeds

Yesterday driving home on the motorway, needed to accelerate to overtake, accelerated quite hard (kick down) and within seconds got a continous beep sound, have uploaded this to youtube

pulled over at the next exit, turned off the engine and waited for 30 seconds, the beep sound gone and I carried on my journey, after 10 mins or so I needed to accelerate again and the beep sound came back, stayed on continously even when slowing down, so pulled over again, turned off engine and then back on again, luckily I was not too far from home by then

have spoken to my local Land Rover main dealer this morning, and they are clueless, so can anyone on fullfatrr give me some ideas, there were no warnings on the dash, no lights flashing at me, nothing whilst driving with the beep going on, and cannot see anything in my L322 manual, and nothing when I google for this Rolling Eyes

Sounds like the hidden JLR AI function that assesses your driving ability and recommends a safe speed Whistle "Gloria" 2002 L322 Voguish V8 LPG - carcass

Have you got any IIDTool or equivalent to run some live value tests ideally, or just read faults, clear faults, read faults etc? "Gloria" 2002 L322 Voguish V8 LPG - carcass

my mechanic put his Snap On Verus on the car back on the 16th Jan, but no faults came up Smile

we thought it might find some things on the auto gearbox, but nothing, but I have already decided to go for a full flush and 10L oil change

Does your car have lpg fitted by any chance?

I wonder if its beeping to tell you its switched back to petrol (due to accelerating for overtake)

Just a thought.

yes you are right

it has a Prins VSI system - but they are supposed to be good, one of the better ones, maybe it needs another service

is this a common thing for us LPG users that hard acceleration is not really possible with LPG systems ?

maybe I need a switch that can toggle between LPG and Petrol Whistle

I ran an X5 with lpg and the tank level indicator was also the switchover if you wanted just petrol. It will switchover under hard acceleration if there is not enough pressure to get the gas into the injectors quick enough I believe. Was it nearly empty?

yes it was fairly low, the indicator showing 10 to 20% left in the tank I reckon, I will fill her up today, and when I go back home give it a blast and see if the beeping comes back on again - hopefully it is nothing more sinister than this

Is it a relatively new install? Injectors may be undersized for the engine size but I reckon it was levels that were issue.

Cheap fix at least! Hopefully Thumbs Up

Well spotted Mariana. Think you may well be right. They do ping when low or switching to petrol, especially under acceleration.

OP, you should think about having your lpg serviced before you do anything else. Should be done annually or every 200 hrs or so (mine’s a STAG system)
