2014 Range Rover Autobiography SDV6 Corris Grey
L405 Climate/Ac Heater issue. 2014 Model

Hi All

New to the site had many Range Rovers over the years could do with some help recently the heater has started to play up. I have always set it to auto around 21 -22 and never had to touch it. Recently after say an hour of comfortable driving and cabin temperature as expected it starts to blow cold air subtly at the front passengers. No matter what you do settings wise you can’t stop this. The only fix is turn it up say 2-3 degrees and it start to heat again. Noticing this now it’s been colder outside but was working ok back in November. Only thing recently changed was the pollen filter can’t see that making any difference.

Any ideas guys.

in the climate settings menu I think you can adjust the blower flow rate to be light, balanced or strong. That might help in the temperature sensor picking up the temperature? 2017 Range Rover Vogue V6 Diesel

Hi there thanks for the reply.
Your right I have already played with this to no avail. It was fine but something changed I wonder if the sensor is faulty and reading to hot possibly. Do you know if the sensor is replaceable and where it’s located ?

Hi a while since I asked the question but yes I did the car is long gone for a new one but if you remove the dash panel on the left of the steering wheel with the little ventilation looking grille in it maybe 25mm square there is a mini fan and sensor behind it. That senses cabin temp by sucking air from cabin over it. They either fail or get fluffed up, mine the latter clean off all the fluff and it spins free again. Without it running it finds it difficult to sense the temp and plays up. It’s a cheap part if it fails. Let me know if it’s this.

That panel with the grille is connected to the head unit surround, it's all one piece even though it looks like two bits, just get your fingers behind it and pull it straight off towards you... Thumbs Up Pete

As above, it needs a good pull, start with the top glove box open.
It’s fixed mine today, as you can see it was thick with dust and fluff in the fan.
I used a vac and unplugged it before using brake cleaner.
It’s fine now.

I’ve found that if you have the front and rear set at different temps then after a while they begin to fight each other. I set the temp to sync in the dash and just use the drivers one only to set the temp. V8 or else ...

Thanks for the help. Inspected mine but not clogged, going to be harder to tell if it is working now the weather is improving.
Do we have a part number for it and is it expensive, I am tempted to just replace. letters not necessarily in the right order

If you pull the plug off it’s stops spinning so you can see it working.

https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/l...ensor.html Not expensive but a lot of different part numbers for something that looks like the same part - One to go to the dealer for.

You also have a 'sun load sensor' that adjusts the AC up when it detects a lot of sun on the windscreen. Perhaps that is the cause of the sudden cold air? Its a little black dot piece on the dash, maybe do an experiment and cover it up for a while see if that solves the issue
