FBH still running when engine warm 3.6 TDV8

Hi all,

I've noticed recently that my FBH comes on when I start the car but even after a good run (1 hour plus) with the engine fully warmed up the FBH is still running.

Is this the correct operation?

Many thanks

Doesn't seem right. Mine switches off after a relatively short time. John

I imagined it would turn off when a certain coolant temp was reached.

Checked the coolant temp with my new IID tool after the 1:20 journey and 3 minutes idling it was showing 82 degrees C.

Will have a look at the workshop manual

I think mine is to. I just drove 3 miles and parked up for 10 minutes. Then drove a few hundred yards and parked up to be greeted with a cloud a diesel smelling smoke coming from the wheel arch.

According to the WSM the FBH runs in auxiliary heating mode until one of a set of conditions is met.

One of these conditions being the engine coolant temperature exceeding 75 degrees C.

I will test again later when I go out.
