United States 2004 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Java Black
Towing on 4 wheels vs 2 wheel tow dolly

It looks like I'm letting go of my 2004. Sad sad day. It will be replaced with a 2017 GLE 350 with hot stone massage seats per wife's orders. Said she wants something dependable. She is just jealous. But I had to choose and the wife has the money.
I am gifting the full fat to a friend that loved it. I need to tow it 300 miles. Too heavy for a flat bed trailer. Handbook says it can be put in a mode where the transfer case is in neutral, transmission in neutral. Anyone do this?
Can it be towed on a 2 wheels on a tow dolly? Would one use the same mode as 4 wheel towing?
Thanks.

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Santorini Black

I know mine's a later model, but the handbook states do not tow more than 30 miles at 30mph and on four wheels only, do not tow on a two wheel dolley. It states trailered only for any distance. There's also a list of things do do such as disengaging the park facility in the gearbox and using the engine if possible for lights steering etc. for a short tow or recovery loading.

Perhaps best to trailer it that distance.

Hope this helps. Cheers
Richard

I agree that you need to put it on a flatbed truck or trailer or you'll kill the drive train.

UK limit is 3.5 ton on a standard license with an "E" entitlement (denoting the trailer). Car is about 2.6, typical trailer about .6 so all good at 3.2 or maybe 7200 pounds in US speak. Don't know US trailer limits though. Mike - MPx
