Well as we hit the end of 2019 I thought that I'd look back at what I have done since buying the L322 back in Summer.

Since I bought the car I have only put on 1300 miles in 5 months, most of the time it has been in the garage undergoing planned restoration.

I bought the car through an online auction site at what I consider a reasonable price of decently under 5K, understanding that I would have work to do.

I am lucky in that I have access to a family owned commercial garage and so can do stuff myself without crawling all over the floor or trying to loosen off a nut with a scaffold pole attached to a passing milk float.

Funny enough I keep a record of everything that I have done to my Td6 on my phone is: what was replaced, cost, mileage and the date.
Sometimes makes for some scary reading about how much has been spent in the year 1/2 that i’ve had the car.
Showed my list to my manager who just got a RR SPORT 3.6 and he was quite shocked about the spending, have warned him to be ready to fix things himself or be prepared to pay for a garage to repairs things.
RR are nice but they do eat at your wallet 😂. 2004 Autobiography TD6 Java Black

Regards costs, I mentally don't count things like general maintenance, ie engine oil, filters, tyres etc. This is the same for all cars.

I also used new nuts, bolts, and washers for every component, I'm happy, but a saving could be made (albeit false IMHO).

I reckon that in Parts, then I'm about where I expected to be.

Labour does not bear thinking about!!!!!

I spend about 3k a year on maintenance and servicing most preventative and it has been a great car now done over 185k

I too can be quite sad at times ,I do keep a record of all works carried out date cost and mileage I think it adds a bit come sale time and shows its been cared for. but bolts nuts and washers only get replaced if theirs a problem with them.  Range rover 4.2 SC 06MY.

Well so far in 2020.

New 020 110ah 920A battery mid January.

New bonnet rams last week, (with the old ones it was a bit like ducking the guillotine).

Replaced all grills, side, bonnet vent, and rad front grill with Stornoway colour coded painted supplied courtesy Fanders.

Replaced unused 19" spare wheel with correct size 20" spare, idem Fanders.

Today replaced the Air Suspension Reservoir with a genuine new LR tank, the old one was just about ready to leak.
Easy job, batt disconnect, loosen under shields etc, loosen air line, wait for decompression, remove air line, remove old tank.
Reverse procedure with new tank.
Start car and do reset thing with steering wheel.
Job done.

FWIW, due to the horrible condition of the surface of the old tank, even though I was using a brand new LR tank, over the past 2 weeks I gave the new tank 5 coats of black gloss anti-rust metal paint. (smoothrite yada yada).
