Recently bought an 88k 12 plate 4.4TDV8 privately (Manheim Auction) & so far delighted with her.
Just had a mega service & all the oils changed inc gearbox flush. Nothing was picked up with the service so I was pretty happy.
So, I’m pretty confident she’s in pretty good fettle & fingers crossed she’ll be ok. If there’s a problem I’ll get it fixed, simple as.
So, I had no intention whatsoever of looking for or having a warranty, until I found a thread on here where someone said “make sure you get a warranty”, so I did look & got a quote from WW.
Just wondered what the general consensus of opinion there is on these warranty’s especially as I’ve got a great 4x4 Indy with reasonable hourly rates versus WarrantyWise 10/100 plus a/c plus emissions which works out at £1380 for the year? (Which to be fair I didn’t think was bad).

Be very interested in people’s views on warranty’s good or bad especially WarrantyWise. 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

How many miles are you likely to do in a year?

It all depends in your personal approach to risk. Personally I'd rather stick the money in an ISA and tap into if needed. Again, it's a personal thing. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

No experience of WW, but read the terms carefully as some of the warranties have claims limits and so would not cover major failures such as turbo implodes and takes engine with it.

In general I have not bothered once the manufacturer warranty has expired. Most of the time this worked well. My first 322, which had engine problems at about 97,000 miles might have justified one, but approaching 10 years old I'd have paid for seven or eight years. There were plenty of smaller things with that car over the years, so having a warranty would have had some value along the way. There might have been some years where I'd have paid less with a warranty. As someone else on here has said, these warranties are intended to make a profit for the issuer, so on average the repair cost will be less than the premium. You just have to hope to avoid a write-off level failure.

My experience of the TDV8 4.4 was that corrosion was more of a problem than mechanical failures, though mine was only 5yo and maybe 60,000 miles when traded in. Oddly enough I'd regard low mileage as more of a risk than higher, especially if you do lots of short journeys, they seem to prefer lots of use and longer journeys, though obviously on a £per mile basis it's more costly to have the warranty. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Bought one when I moved into an L405, my advice: as others have said it’s either bank the cash or take a warranty, I went with one because Black Friday deals were mega last year, I saved over 40%, they have more to give than they say, well worth the haggle.
