Ditto, just had the side trims along the glass on the upper tailgate replaced as had started degrading on the left side, which I think was the result of this. I think, as the above posts suggest, is a common issue. RR Vogue TDV8 Grey/Black

Have notice that the two glass rubber seals are somewhat loose as if they've been constantly nudged while washing. Is there a way of sealing them back in or a simple job to replace?

As I mentioned above ,I get this and mine is a 2002 model and does not have the rubber strips. Think therefore that this rules out them being a problem on the later vehicles . |

All the rubber strips do is stop the water from a wet window, dribble on the parcel shelt when you open the tailgate.

Re the rubber strips, I had them replaced by a specialist when in for a service. I don't think its a complex job although you need to be careful not to damage the glass. The specialist charged £50 labour and the parts were £55 so not a big job but does look better now. RR Vogue TDV8 Grey/Black

So basically all we can do is rust proof the tailgate and put up with it......?

My car is 2011 and has rubber strips down the sides of the glass. This directs the water over the metal part of the tailgate when you open it so it doesn't drip all over the lower tailgate. I looked at a 2006 car and it did not have any strips at all down the sides, only the one along the bottom of the glass. Did they add them later and in which model year?
