Not Starting

I have had this twice? stopped the car after a drive ie: turned off the ignition, foot on the brake to start press button to start and the dash message is foot on the brake to start? as I already have my foot on the brake I can't understand why I get the message? I then shut down get out of the car lock the car wait for the computers to shut down and start again and it works after two times of pressing the foot on the brake as usual?
I was thinking it could be foot brake switch or something else?
It`s one of those intermitting faults any idea`s anyone?

Might sound like a wind up, Wink but try turning on, switching the wipers on and off then try starting the car. Not had this yet, but that is reported by Baltic Blue.

Try a search for similar faults as yours. There a some about with fixes and it can sometimes be useful to try a google search using fullfat in the search line as it is said the results can come up from here more relevant sometimes. Cheers
Richard

The suggestion is only made as a temporary fix.
The real long term fix is likely to be the starter motor.

Hi, Mike on thinking about the starter I did hear a click from the starter which would point to that as the problem, could anyone point me where to source the parts to fix it myself? as I read your`s and others post.

Thanks all for your input Thumbs Up

TBH, by the time you've taken out the old starter to replace the contacts in the solenoid, you'd be better off (and more confident of a permanent fix) if you just replaced the whole starter.

I should add that the starters fail because of poor contacts in the solenoid, so unless the replacement kit is of OEM standard, you could find that there is little (or no) improvement.

Mike
