Generally, it's not a problem. I have, in the past (with my P38A), removed the towball, turned the tongue upside down, and then refitted the towball. That gave a few inches difference. Ron B. I never considered that ![]() Although I assume you can just as easily do the same with the swan neck receiver? I tend to leave a hitch lock on when it’s unattended, so even if they did pull the pin they would still have the hassle of removing the hitch lock.. which would likely slow them down by 30 seconds if they were equipped. All these measures stop the opportunist at best in my mind. |

It reduces the rattling - but it still moves

I welded a bolt onto the end and use a thick plate under the nut to clamp the shaft forwards which stops all rattling and also stops the pin from being removed. |

I use the farmers hitch and to stop the rattling I bought this bracket off eBay for £8.99 Works a treat.

How do these modifications sit with the towbar approvals in the event of something going wrong, would insurance still be valid?

I’m trying to work it out mentally in my head what you’ve done there. Got a photo so I can understand it better? 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded |
