Has anyone else experienced 'Price loading' because they have a FFRR?

A couple of examples that spring to my mind are:

I took a FFRR in for a seat base repair (recolour) and paid around £120 for it. A couple of months later, I bought an old Audi A6 estate to do a job. It had leather seats and a knackered bolster so I took it in and was charged £80 to recolour and replace a panel of leather. Twice the job, for nearly half the price!

The second one was a quote for some building work. The bricklayer (who usually earns around £100 per day), took one look at the RR and quoted £1800 for two days work. Do they think were all stupid??

I'm going to park my mates R reg Mondeo there for the next quote!

I wonder how much more we pay for things (anything) because we park a nice car on the drive. Anyone else experienced this, or is it just me that appears to have 'mug' tattooed on his head? My Previous RR's!

I have often thought this and you can see it in their eyes as they are mentally preparing a quote

this is bound to happen as most folk think that if you have a range then you have loads of money, most people [except for mick ] dont have any money because they have a range.. ... - .- -.

I often find this, to the point now that if I can, I say "Land Rover" when getting quotes for things like tyre fitting/oil changes etc. Otherwise they just see you as a cash cow.

Why else would a LR dealership charge £60PH to service a freelander and £120 for an L322 

very true - they see a RR or any other top marque and builders eyes light up as if they have hit the jackpot - and several have admitted this to me

but builders quotes depend on your house as well - my parents live in a very large house and their quotes against similar ones for me are often 50%+ higher

the same builder quoted me £100 daily rate in cash and quoted my parents £150

shame my father catches them out as he's a retired md of a large building company

talking of 'builders' - at the moment there are two different 'pikey' contractors working on my road and they keep looking at the FFRR and GC

Absolutely agree with this. Has happened a couple of times to me as well. We happen to live in a large (ish) 5 Bedroom house, (because we have 6 kids), have 2 RR's and a CLK cabriolet parked on the drive/in the garage.

What they don't see is that I have a VERY large mortgage so am probably slightly worse off than the average man as far as disposable income. Reality is that although my cars "LOOK" expensive thay are not. My 2000 P38 Vogue is worth approx £4k, the CLK about £8 and the FFRR around £15. I don't have finance on them but put them all together and sell them I could probably stretch to a new Audi A6.

Park that on the drive and the same builder would not be looking to charge the premium. Ash

Yup , I have often wondered when having a plumber around if the price became inflated due to the car on the drive.  2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS

I found having a Skoda on the drive rather than the FFRR results in about 10-15% off the price of home improvements.

With 1 or more hub caps fallen off.

So, in summary: If you want to buy anything, or get a quote for something, hide the RR and wee on your scruffiest clothes. That should get you a cheaper price  My Previous RR's!
