Alarm Going off - Won’t Start!

Hi, I’m in need of some help (and some ear plugs).

Car was fine when I got in from work this morning, locked it and went to bed. Just been woken up to the alarm going off and the Mrs panicking because it would not stop.

Neither key fob will disable the alarm/unlock the car (or start it) and the alarm won’t stop going off until we close the doors and leave it alone. The doors are still opening using keyless entry though, albeit intermittently.

Boot will not open. Doors are hit and miss. Smart keys both not recognised. At a loss, to be honest.

Had no recent battery issues with either the car or the fobs.

Has anyone else had this happen? Any info/opinions appreciated.

Thanks

Which battery? Main or auxiliary? Car doesn’t seem short of power. Not flashing up with low battery, alarm and horn sounding non-stop...

Also, I can’t open the boot... Is there a way to manually open it?

Cheers

Also, it had a new battery fitted a year ago by the supplying garage - I assume the main one.

I have the same MY car (an AB) and replaced the main battery a short while ago but not the aux. I'm not sure the aux battery is monitored and despite research haven't found the answer. Likewise can't find much info on what the aux battery actually powers, but if it's in poor condition I'd guess it's quite likely the electrics would start playing up so I'd check the condition of that one.

Thanks, Roberlar. Don’t suppose you know how to open the boot manually?

Can you get hold of a jump pack? Or a charger? Simply connect it to the post under the bonnet and check weather its a battery low issue? Thumbs Up

Hadn't thought of that one, I have a Nocco Genious 150 lithium jump pack which is a very small and lightweight US product. It fits in your glovebox and defies belief. Has a useful voltage indicator as well, although i'm not sure how it would differentiate between the voltage of two different batteries off the L405 posts. That said, it's been a godsend for me with agricultural machinery such as tractors, telehandlers and so on up to around 5 litres, and I have no doubt it could handle larger engines.

Thanks, Stan, but the boot wouldn’t open even with a door open. I thought maybe there’d be a keyhole behind the number plate like on the Jags? Didn’t want to pull it off for no reason though...

Thanks for all the other input, but after speaking with two specialists, both said all things point to the KVM, which is apparently fairly common. So I’ll have to get it recovered to them.

Probably way out of line, but could it be the same?

The L322 has a small rectanglular black bit on the inside of the upper tailgate (offside, on the trim below the galss). Pull that gently and it opens the top. Then two latches on either side of the lower gate, reached by wiggling a finger or something to the latches on the lower gate.

You'll have to lower the rear seats and remove any load space cover. Cheers

Thanks for the tip, rjff.

I’ll have a look. Unfortunately the rear seats lower electronically and the buttons are accessed from the boot! I’m sure there’ll be a way around it...

Unbelievably, and coincidentally, went to fire mine up after being sat four days and neither keyless entry or either of the two remotes worked to unlock, or indeed operate anything. Tried the tailgate (manual button) which opened and subsequently everything went back to normal. Relieved but at the same time dissapointed Shocked
