Just think £113 of that £141 goes straight into the chancellor's treasure trove..................... and nobody bats an eyelid. Currently total taxes on fuel account for 80% of the price you pay 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |

So, if its 7 miles out of your way (then 7 miles back) that's 14 miles at say 23mpg it will use .6 gal so 2.7 lts? @ 125.9 = £3.40 to save on a tank full of 85 lts x 6p/lt = £5.10 nett saving £1.70 + the time to travel 14 miles, .............or am I wrong?

I remember the day I bought my Rangie, it was showing 11 miles range so went to the nearest fuel station to fill it for the journey home (Motorway Services), as the pump went shooting past £100, I actually stopped pumping and looked underneath the car to check for a leak! Hahaha, little did I know eh.

Can't seem to fill mine up any more? Get to below 31 miles range (ding!) and head for Tescos. Best can get in is about 84 litres, and I then have @ 475 miles before "ding!" goes again. My fuel gauge and computer must be joshing me ?

Probably. Mine is the same. Gets to 78 miles on the OBC and it will cut out. I've only ever done it twice- 1st time I wasn't expecting it and had only had the car a week, and 2nd time I had a full gallon can with me, just in case. I rang the previous owner, and he said "Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the fuel gauge is faulty" If I fill it up, the gauge only reads 3/4 full- I have learnt to live with it now. I just rest the trip and when I get to about 500 miles, I know its running on fumes. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded |

Now I was once advised not to go to one of the big supermarkets for fuel. Something to do with it being cheaper because it does not have all the additives the "real" pertrol forecourts have. Potentally more damaging over time.?

I have heard both views. I take the view that it all comes from the same refineries and is essentially the same stuff. In fact, Tesco high octane was the best performing fuel compared to the competitors from BP and Shell. |

pretty sure the only difference is the additives, but your asda's tesco's etc aint going to sell rubbish for fear of repercussions if your engine went bad...i have run on asda fuel for about ten years now and i've had no problems with the engines on my cars... ... - .- -. Y. O. L. O. . |

We are in transport and currently paying about £6000 a week, but that's still small fry compared to Coach/Bus and Lorry operators. Only good thing is we can claim the extra 2.5% VAT rise back. Also small fry compared to that ship that 'Tim in Scotland' works on! |
