We are just over £6.30 a gallon now in London.
I used to run mine almost dry and put 102 litres in sometimes. £141 at todays prices.

That's still a small percentage of the running costs so not as bad as it looks really, but there is something psycological about handing the money over regularly rather than the other costs which you don't see.

My current runaround has only got a 45 litre tank and still does over 650 miles per tank. How times change!

Just think £113 of that £141 goes straight into the chancellor's treasure trove..................... and nobody bats an eyelid. local Tesco went up 2p/litre overnight - now 131.9

go 7 miles down the road and Tesco is 125.9!

So, if its 7 miles out of your way (then 7 miles back) that's 14 miles at say 23mpg it will use .6 gal so 2.7 lts? @ 125.9 = £3.40 to save on a tank full of 85 lts x 6p/lt = £5.10 nett saving £1.70 + the time to travel 14 miles, .............or am I wrong?

Sometimes it really is all about perception. 

I remember the day I bought my Rangie, it was showing 11 miles range so went to the nearest fuel station to fill it for the journey home (Motorway Services), as the pump went shooting past £100, I actually stopped pumping and looked underneath the car to check for a leak! Hahaha, little did I know eh.

On the up side, on a 500 mile round trip to work last week, I got 29.1 mpg average (TD6). I thought that was pretty good.

Can't seem to fill mine up any more? Get to below 31 miles range (ding!) and head for Tescos. Best can get in is about 84 litres, and I then have @ 475 miles before "ding!" goes again. My fuel gauge and computer must be joshing me ?

[EDIT] did change battery a couple of months ago? .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

i was simply showing the price difference between two Tesco garages

and i get 16.9mpg and the tank holds 100l

the lower price is in my local 'town' and i go there at least twice a week so it costs me nothing to get the saving

Now I was once advised not to go to one of the big supermarkets for fuel. Something to do with it being cheaper because it does not have all the additives the "real" pertrol forecourts have. Potentally more damaging over time.?

Is this an urban myth that "cheap" petrol/Diesel really is "cheap" Petrol/Diesel.? Ash

In UK - they sell on 98RON being better than 95RON and premium due to cleaning etc., etc.,

In SA - they sell on 95RON being better than 93RON and premium due to cleaning etc., etc.,

I honestly don't believe there's HUGE differences and in the UK you're more likely to have a problem with poorly maintained pumps/tanks giving you crud in the fuel than the actual fuel.

Even at £130 a fill up an S/C is good value on the Grins/£ chart

Also quite funny that I'm off to buy a 330i touring at the weekend and it's figures look diesel-efficient in comparison! £100+ a month less on fuel right there! Straight 6 fun but V8 S/C it ain't

We are in transport and currently paying about £6000 a week, but that's still small fry compared to Coach/Bus and Lorry operators. Only good thing is we can claim the extra 2.5% VAT rise back.

Also small fry compared to that ship that 'Tim in Scotland' works on!
