Try switching the windscreen wipers on and off next time it happens, then try starting it again.

The very act of locking and unlocking the car probably would in effect be the same, and “blow away” the fault., allowing you to then start the car.

My 2012 WM had exactly the same (battery fine but occasionally just click when button pressed) and it was cured by replacing the starter motor, it's a known weakness. Only Range Rovers since 1988 |
