Bought an oil pump from good old Lidl as I hoped it would perhaps mean that I could change my oil without crawling around on the wet drive - bit put off by the stated flow rate of .2 ltr/min for engine oil but hey presto - less than 10 minutes and 8 litres sucked from the sump - brilliant bit of kit for less than £15 with a 3 year warranty - so easy that I did my other car and my daughters as well!! |

I have used these on my previous 5 series so much easier than crawling on the ground. I have done a service on my Td6 as it was the first service I gave it since buying it I drained the oil from the sump plug, needless to say some ended up on my drive.

The sump plug only drains about a litre of oil on a 4.4 tdv8 ford engine the only way to drain the oil is sucking it out? |

I have been using an electric pump since the disaster on the driveway (oil everywhere)

Easiest way is to use the spanner from behind i.e. under the bell housing.. once loose the oil drips through the holes on the small cross member type metal plate.. once drained.. I spray the break cleaner to make sure there is no oil left of the metal plate. Current:

I use a pump as well, then drain the last little bit but to be honest it’s always only a dribble!
