Personally can't see that spacings make any difference what so ever, anpr can read it any way. & the human brain does also!!

If they can be read for the purposes of tracing and are otherwise inoffensive... on reading the UK and World news, do the authorities have more pressing needs to attend to? |

It's easy revenue raising. -in the current climate, targets must be reached. They will soon have the same culture as parking wardens, ticket wise, and maybe even the wardens will find another revenue stream.

The font type, spacing and text size on registration plates has been decided for a reason? Camreras can misread correctly displayed registration plates, never mind incorrectly ones. It is also so humans can read them easily too.
