England 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Santorini Black

Personally can't see that spacings make any difference what so ever, anpr can read it any way. & the human brain does also!!

Love em or hate em they're a personal choice, just like each of us has different opinions on FF styling stock / facelifts / body pack etc, be a pretty boring existence on this planet if it was same same same Yawn Yawn Yawn

USA plates are even better as you can buy proper names / words 2011 (MY12) 4.4 TDV8 Vogue

I have no issue with spacing - but misplaced screws or silly fonts should be clamped down on IMHO

As above, ANPR can read them whatever the spacing

If they can be read for the purposes of tracing and are otherwise inoffensive... on reading the UK and World news, do the authorities have more pressing needs to attend to? Thumbs Up

It's easy revenue raising. -in the current climate, targets must be reached. They will soon have the same culture as parking wardens, ticket wise, and maybe even the wardens will find another revenue stream.

Next year, we parents, even have to pay for the scouts St.Georges day March policing so it's donation bucket swinging as they march. And the cops just watch them... Having an easy day. -they want £2000. And no March if not paid etc. however, they can always find about 7000 officers per day, mostly on enforced overtime on duty at Notting hill carnival.....all free!

Rant completed...

I'm not sure its a luxury - the fine is £1.000, plus they can seize the plate and resell it to someone who will display it correctly, so it could be a real money spinner.

A bit like other clamp downs that have come and gone. its only a matter of time before they have a purge Whistle

Ultimately I couldn't really care less what anyone else does, but as I said, I think some of them are so contrived they really are a bit sad and the law is the law.

Both my wife any I have private plates with a single number and our initials, but I would never "mess around" with a plate to try and make it into something it isn't.

The font type, spacing and text size on registration plates has been decided for a reason? Camreras can misread correctly displayed registration plates, never mind incorrectly ones. It is also so humans can read them easily too.

People decide to intentionally and knowingly breach this for what? vanity possibly? I don't know. But to moan about it when the police and others point this out to them is quite laughable. To then go on and say the police are revenue raising, meeting quotas or simply should ignore this as they having more pressing needs is quite a parochial view. There are many regulations involving vehicles as well as the Road Traffic Act that we all have to adhere to, registration plates are just one of them.

Not sure how principles of proportionality apply in this instance.

Discretion possibly, however when the driver/owner has purchased the number plate knowing it is doesn't comply and then intentionally displays it for no other reason than vanity, I suspect discretion would go out of the window.

Sorry, but I think some of these "make up a word or name" from letters and numbers that vaguely resemble (with a bit of guess work, a couple of pints and a creative mind) the name or word you are trying to "re-create" are a bit sad to be honest Confused

I think an "honest" private plate, which requires no "guess-work" is the way to go Thumbs Up
