In my experience on a frosty morning with ice on the windscreen the FBH needs at least 15 min to make a useful difference and melt the ice. 20 -25 min better yet. I think it shuts off automatically after 30 min. Previously a 2008MY Tonga Green Vogue SE 3.6 TDV8 |

The heater will run for a max of 30 minutes, so I aim to get to the car at about 25 mins.

Cheers I'll have to remember to switch the FBH on before making my sandwiches!

You should be able to manually turn the FBH on before you leave someone in the car and use that for warmth if you need to.

the residual heat only blows air through the heater matrix after 2mins or so its cold anyway.

The FBH runs a self test during start up, anything wrong with the FBH, then it will purge the combustion chamber for 2 mins, then shut off. If it fails to start 3 times in a row, the PCB locks out the starting sequence, pulling the fuse for a spell can reset the lockout, but it does not cure what caused the lockout. If the FBH starts up ok, it can take about 2 minutes for it to ramp up to full speed. As previously said, hard for it to run hot for 2 mins when it takes longer than that to start up. |
