Bonnet release cable snapped

Well I went to change my sidelight bulb and me bonnet wouldn’t open Sad

Think the cable is snapped. It’s not at the handle end so it’s gone somewhere in the middle.

Now I’m away from home at work all week so can’t look at it, but need to order the part ready for the weekend Sad

Also how to open the bonnet etc......

Any help is gratefully recieved!

IIRC it is remove the passenger side inner wheelarch then employ a small monkey/marsupial to reach in and release the locks .

It's probably broke at the join that sits near the wing line of the bonnet. I'd order both cables. V8 or else ...

Oh so there’s 2 cables?

Does anyone have a picture at all of how they are both routed?

Won't help you open the bonnet.

Comes through the bulkhead, runs along the side of the RH wing, then turns to the centre of the bonnet.

The two cables are joined with a connector @ half way along the wing

Best to get the bonnet open to see which one has broken, unless you choose to replace both. .

Mine snapped at the pull handle. I managed to get mole grips on the end of the cable and pull it.
It’s fairly easy to replace. It’s two cables joined together near the strut tower on the offside wing. All I had to do was replace the section from the wing to the pull handle.

When mine snapped I removed the drivers side wheel, pulled the plastic inner guard cover off, reached up to the drivers side front corner between the air ducting and grabbed the cable , pulled and it opened

Access from passenger side inner wheelarch to access release catches / cable on slam panel

Access from drivers side inner wheelarch to access cable on slam panel or side of wing, if you can reach / feel for it .

Worth a try putting some hefty mole grips (or similar gripping/crushing tool) further up the cable to see if you can squash the outer cable and grab the inner in the process, then pull.

Or cut back the outer cable with hacksaw ? .
