So, it looks like most people like the look and feel of being naked. So a couple of questions:

1. If I remove the steps and front flap, I'll have to put new front flaps on, will these use or hide the holes left by removing the old.

and

2. Anyone want some OEM side steps?

1)not sure
2) put them on ebay - usually go for £200-250 cheers

Steps purely for practical reasons.

Little peeps.. slightly taller peep (wife) .. lazy peep (me!)

They also keep the crud off the sides.. which it you live out of the town is plentiful.

However.. if I were to go green laning or such like then naked or proper sliders and not cosmetic tubes would be order of the day. Mud flaps are also a concern laning when travering large potholes. 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS

I've decided to keep the steps, although I prefer the naked look, the little people in my family have out voted me Sad

I think you could still convince them by replacing them with deployable sidesteps: the best of both worlds!

I don't like step as I always step down onto the ground which means that the edge of the step touches the back of my trousers, leaving a dirty mark.

Whoever the wife (at 5'0") loves steps for getting in and out.
