But was your V6 turning over at 1200 rpm at 60 mph? I guess maybe not, the V8 is little above tickover at 60 mph and wont be best place for making it's maximum torque. I would kind of accept 8th gear as overdrive and not expect too much of it at the legal speed limit, I'm sure if you managed 90+ mph it would stay in 8th gear. BMW i3 Electric Car

I have no idea what gear mine is in, but it's certainly a relaxed towing experience. Even when I've overloaded my trailer, I've found it a pleasure |

Something wrong with it then - I have frequently towed an Ifor Williams at max train weight - and way above - over 4T on private roads totally without issue. In short it’s the best tow car in the world. Are your Brakes dragging - is the RR behaving normal in other respects ? 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17 |

My 17my car towed a twin axle trailer with 2.5T over 1000 miles in one go on motorways in top gear at 72mph. Best all round tow car currently on sale.

Thank you all for your replies. The car is perfect in all other aspects. I didn't intend to sound so negative, the overall driving experience ,towing or solo is great.
