I have both and as people have said they are sooo different but awsome in so many ways, i love the defender as every journey feels like an expedition even the family says its comfortable on long drives!

I have a 1989 Australian Army 110 wagon with factory fitted Isuzu truck motor and the L322 3.6. Very different vehicles. Both have strong appeal in different ways.

I'd had my 2003 110 TD5 SW for 9 years, until I sold it earlier this year to buy the 2011 L322 5.0 S/C.

I think the price difference (Defender bubble aside) is due to running costs. What was £80k+ to buy still has the same running costs at 10+ years old, even if you can buy it for £6k. |

I had the same choice a few years ago. Then I drove a Defender. By far the worse thing I've ever driven. Steering is so vague it's unbelievable. Just didn't fell safer either. |

Vague steering on a Defender is usually a worn steering box.

After almost stuffing a Defender into a dry stone wall in a manoeuvre at which my Rangie wouldn't have blinked, I decided they are not for me. Also, a long motorway journey in one would fill me with dread. |
