Afternoon all, I’ve been chasing an intermittent issue with the Adblue system and ‘think” I might have a faulty DEF injector. I’m now seeing the dreaded countdown to not starting message, which I’ve had before but mysteriously disappeared a few times, but now it seems more permanent.
I have loads of the usual DEF type fault codes but I think I have ruled out the following
1. The injector was slightly blocked, so it was cleaned and the problem cleared up for a few weeks.
2. Checked the voltage going to the injector and it seems fine, as broken wires feature a lot in these issues.
My latest test was to see if the injector was working properly by applying 12v to it but there was no “click” as I was expecting, so my current theory is that the DEF injector may have failed completely but having removed it, I noticed that the Adblue feed pipe was totally dry, which surprised me, as I was expecting some residual fluid to be present.
My question is, would a failed injector mean there would be no Adblue fluid in the feeder pipe, or is that more likely to indicate a blockage further back, or even the Adblue pump itself?
