Not changing into 6th?

Hi there, today on the dual carriageway, the car didn't seem to want to change into 6th @ a steady 70mph.

I put the gearbox into manual mode and then changed into 6th no problems, and after that (back in auto mode) the car performed as normal.

I was just wondering if there was a special programme for when the engine is cold that would delay the transmission from selecting 6th gear?

If anyone could let me know that would be great!

Many thanks!

Philip.

Depends how cold your engine is sir... But yes you have hit the nail on the head... The car will hold gears to force the engine to warm up quicker Thumbs Up

Yes, basically the controller selects Sport mode during warm-up, which inhibits the use of 6th gear.
