I only reported one failed in my Fault Log, but several plenum were reported as cracked., but the most common failure is the 4 short rubber hoses.

It is the drivers side, but with a days fitting involved, I'd not want to chance a used one if there's a known manufacturing fault with them. May end up doing it again in six months otherwise.
Well it was a five minute shufty as I called in unscheduled. He seemed to feel the hoses all looked alright and due to the location of the soot on the engine cover, this signified a manifold. But final clarification would be when it's in to be done I guess. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black 2018 D300 SE Velar in champagne Spiffing wheel centre caps, L322 sill repair panels, etc |

This was the only previous manifold crack I found.

The TDV6 inlet manifolds are on their 8th version although they got a year's head start on the 4.4 TDV8 with 2009 production. My son and I recently changed one of his 2009-built 3.0 D4's which took us 2 days although worse engine bay access than the L322 including interference from the EGR valve on the exhaust manifold, which is n/a to the 4.4 TDV8. |

Looking like the indy and the "about a grand" is the way then. And hope it's something lesser like the hoses or chamber when they start to strip it down.

Ive never heard of a 4.4 needing an inlet manifold changing yet! Plenty of 3.6's though...

I originally had this diagnosis on 4.4 when it wouldn't pass a pressure test after going into restrictive performance. In the end it was linked to exhaust blow between two sensors and a subsequent miscorrelation. Fault only came up when held at full boost for 30s+ Cheers

I remember that case Buzz, but I must have mis- recorded it as a split in the plenum rather than the actual manifold.
