Not really. It’s a mechanical issue, as opposed to a an electrical one. Hugely common in the 6HP boxes, caused by a worn torque converter

You can use the IIDTool to monitor and record the engine speed, turbine speed and EDS6 current simultaneously, at a reasonable capture rate, which - when plotted out - shows exactly what the lock-up clutch is up to

You need to establish whether the EDS 6 solenoid current is fluctuating or not during the instability. If it’s rock steady and the engine speed is varying while the turbine speed is constant then the lock-up clutch itself is faulty. If you aren’t aware of any other problems with the transmission then I don’t see the point in replacing anything more than just the TC. There’s no need to open up the transmission to replace the converter so you don’t need a transmission specialist to do the job, any competent mechanic can do it. The critical think is to make sure that the converter has been re-manufactured by a company that is used to dealing with captive clutches, as the piston spring retainer has to be accurately re-welded back into position.
