It's the way of the modern world - which is why I find Brexit such a sorry joke - components are made all over the place then assembled into finished products. The idea of a little man in a factory somewhere producing a car from raw materials are long gone,
All big firms want to be in the largest single markets they can be, with the free movement of goods and services.
There are all flavours of 'manufacture' - Magna Steyr are at the more extreme end, but in other cases JLR may 'own' the factory, but its full of leased equipment and contract staff with components shipped in from independent suppliers, so not that much different really.....
