Had fullfats for a number of years,primarily as a second car for weekend fun,although in the last 3 years having done little more than 7000 miles .I have spent more time cleaning it than actually driving it. Just me and the wife now so thinking of a change and considering a Bentley Continental 2004-2007 model as prices are approx £20k ish.Any one here have any experience with them?
Expecting 17 mpg,similar day to day running cost and reasonable serving costs of approx £1000-£1500 from an indie.The car will be doing 3-5000 p/annum so unless some thing catastrophic goes bang would imagine to be similar running cost of a fullfat.
Am I missing some thing? Know the wiring looms are susceptible to damage and like the fattie electrics can be temperamental,any thing else to look out for?
My 07 sc has 106000 miles on the clock in full working order,has had over 3k spent on it by myself on preventative care such as full oil changes including the box,full services,recently four continental tyres,alloy refurb,air con service,new wheel nuts,and spare tyre and the tailgate resprayed and treated for rust.
Any ideas what would be considered a fair and reasonable price I should be asking for her as she drives excellent with no faults.

This was something I looked at a couple of years ago. The service and maintenance costs put me off to be honest.

Interested if you do get one to see how you get on and what you think though!

I have a Continental GT W12 Speed. its a great car. My only advise is try and get as new as possible and get full Bentley Service History. They are a must a will help on resale. Also they can be susceptible to turbo failure and some of the electronics can be a bit temperamental but overall a great car so make sure you get one with a no limit warranty as when they go wrong, they go wrong in a big way. If your worried about the cost of running one, then dont buy one. its like any thing big and expensive they are costly to run and try and runon super unleaded. Try and steer clear of odd colours and modified.

Won't be rushing to get one just yet,starting to browse various sites to get a taste of what I can get for £20k ish. Insurance only £400,and with annual mileage to be 5000 miles hopefully running cost will be reasonable and general maintenance should be 2k ish? Does that sound reasonable.Will probably be getting an indie specialist to check any potential purchase and/ or ensuring a good warranty.
Plenty 2004/ 05 models with 50-60000 miles for 20-25k and suspect a deal to be done if no px.
All in all cheaper than having another child and I have 5 ,so time to spoil myself me thinks.
Just need some one to take the fattie as it's only doing 2000 miles a year. Will keep you informed of progress and appreciate any input advice,recommends for a good independent garage.

Okay, just an update.Fatty up for sale but had no interest and already consider it to be under priced , so.not allowing that to scutter my plans started Looking at a few gt s and flying spurs before coming across one that took my fancy.
A 2004 Gt in tempest grey ( metalic gun metal silver) full black interior ,dark walnut finish with mulliner 20 alloys.
After driving a few flying spurs. (Gt saloon) found them to be quite underwelming and felt ten years older.Other than the obvious cow hide filled interior and detail to the quality of interior i was more than content to get back in the SC to drive home after test driving a few.
Travelled 200 mile round trip to view one particular car and thought the ride and handling of the fatty compared favourably against all i had driven and then taking in to account the seat hieght and interior space,amount of storage really began to question my sanity for wanting a change.
The GT shape looks less an old man's car than the saloon ,and dispite the interiors being the same the GT combines them both to provide more of a complete package. I thought the flying spurs lacked some thing in presence both inside and out ,with a lack of identity ,is it supposed to be a wedding car ,limasine,luxury saloon ?
The GT ride and handling is very favourable and comparable to my SC. The seating is extremely comfortable and the massage seats really work on your lower back,although may be the novelty factor will wear off after a while.. Having driven 4x4 mostly for the last 7 years ,2 fatties and a cayenne,visibility from a lower seat position takes some getting used too but the quality and refinement of the cabin offer a reassurance if comfort and safetey.
Only had the beast a few days and as my other cars have spent most time cleaning,polishing her,and moisturising the eleven cow hides that consist of the interior.
Will be getting her fully serviced ,in a few weeks as the last service was carried out by a normal garage and the car doesn't appear to have had a proper full service in 5 years, but has only travelled 6000 miles in that time.
Hopefully not bought a dog! But the overall condition of body work ,interior is exceptional and the car appears to have Four brand new Mulliner alloys on ,which would suggest that money has been spent.I've been recommended a Bentley indie in South Manchester ,quoted £800 full service including plugs and £400 for gearbox service which seems reasonable,certainly no dearer than I was paying for my tvr tuscan a few years back.
Once serviced and had a chance to use it, I will update my observations and opinions of her but as yet consider ride and drive comparable to my Sc. Full fat 4.2 Sc
