Fault — exhaust gas recircultion B control low

Only fault with car is at cold it idles incorrectly until it is reved then goes away

When I plug in logger the value of A is 5.1 and B is 4.71 I have read if the value is under 5 it will log a fault
Both valves open and close when engine under load
I don’t want to spend money on car as it is an 07 with 120000 miles
A mechanic in work said I should try a tin of wynns egr cleaner sprayed in bursts in to the air box
Have you guys any experience in this or could it further damage a tdv8 or is it worth a try

What is the actual fault code? Wynns may work but depends on what the error is. Current 2007 TDV8 Vogue Buckingham Blue

You may regret not spending money on it if the egr valves break up and kill it. Quickest fix, map out the egr's for around £150 or spend another £100 and remap the engine too. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

CAUTION: I had that symptom before my EGR disintegrated and destroyed the engine and turbo.

Blank it off if you don’t want to do anything else. __

Is it kicking out smoke while idling badly?

It sounds to me like it’s not closing properly.

I really advise it’s looked at ASAP before it turns into a big problem. __

There is no smoke 💨 just a slight hunting of revs at cold start up
I have purchased the wynns egr cleaner and used it last night first thing I noticed the squeak has stopped when I turn off engine
I’ll keep you updated will start car from cold this evening and see what happens
If fault is still present I will look at getting egr valves blocked out I saw a kit on eBay for 35 pounds

Mine is chucking out P0489-00 (2C) Exhaust gas recirculation control - circuit low.

Going to blank the EGRs and get them mapped out which should hopefully fix it.

£1250 for replacement EGRs inc labour!!
