I guess someone has put a late shell on an early chassis and VIN probably to get free road tax at some point. |

I think he's confused about the year - perhaps someone told him that these were made from around 1972. Sept 84 build lost the front quarter windows but the centre console doesn't appear to have ashtrays like my Sept 84. He doesn't say that he has owned it from new, just ...forever, meaning that it feels like for a very long time. |

The door handles are in the LR production location rather than the Montiverdi location which was an inch or so higher and always sticks out like a sore thumb... |

Yeah....and the shut line angle is wrong between the bottom of the rear window and the rear wheel arch, plus the small window in the rear door is wrong for a Monteverdi too. It’s def a factory shell.

I think it's an early 4 door full stop. 1981 to 1986 as it has the exposed hinges on the bonnet and doors... As far as the reshell goes there are a few wee problems with that... the original RRC that used the lt95 box (4 speed and transfer in same case) had a fixed cross member.. meaning that to do a clutch you either had to strip the interior out and remove the floor, or, you had to remove the engine.. Now I could be wrong, but I don't think that the 5 speed gearbox with fit in the early chassis, and to get at the gearbox for any work it will be body off.

Surely the early 2 doors came out early 70s,on a H/J plate,so this cant be the correct number,it being a dateless one which finished early 60s? |
