2006 L322 HK Sub Failure

Apologies for the newbie thread but couldn't see a thread with this answer on it or question, I recently purchased a 2006 4.2 supercharged one of the faults I have found was the sub was not working, the speaker connections are fine so wondering if its the amp?

Is this common to fail and if so will changing it need any coding done afterwards?

Thanks I have ordered a working unit from eBay to test, fingers crossed its not a wiring problem!
