2002-2005 DAB Upgrade

For TV, we can add the BMW Hybrid Tuner.

However until recently I didnt think DAB Radio was an option...

With Intravee there is an option that allows you to use the steering wheel & MID buttons. Of course the Intravee allows us to add the Ipod conectivity kit too.

Required:

Intravee II Unit
Alpine TUA-T100DAB

I'm sorry I haven't a clue................ the most pointless but gut-crushingly funny R4 program but it isn't as good now that Humph has gone. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

I have DAB radio in my 6 series, but have got so frustrated with the reception being intermittent on longer journeys outside of city driving, I stick to FM. I wouldn't pay the option price again. Current MY2020

It's all about the aerial apparently, the TV aerial is the one to use rather than the radio one - because its vertically polarised or something?

Been looking into the tiny BNC splitters you can get, the BMW guys say this is the best way to go although adds an extra £20 or so to do it properly, but a lot of people skimp.

I think as with the TV reception Digital or Analog the radio reception will vary greatly depending on where you are. I've heard that the problem with Digital is that it's all or nothing where as FM will switch to Mono in a poor signal and then get crackly DAB will just cut right out.

But then it's just time to switch over to the MP3 CD changer or Censored ?

Do you have a source for the Alpine DAB tuner?

I looked once - it was apparently taken from the market 5yrs ago - and they're not avail used either...

It would be very nice...

If you tune into DAB and stay in the local area, then shouldn't be a problem, drive over an hour in one direction and signals drop and it dies. I stick to FM,CD or iPhone / iPod via the Aux even though I have DAB. Current MY2020

As far as I remember - no. Unfortunately.

This is part of the car PC that I'm working on - I have a really nice DAB receiver for that for €70. Razz DTV is similar in price, BTW - and everything is on-screen.

When I drove north with the car in August last year I carried superb DAB signals all the way into Central Scotland from west London. At home I can't get either DAB or digital TV in the car on my drive but move 5 miles away toward Edinburgh and I get it back crystal clear. I got better DAB and TV out in the Western Isles in October than I do at home 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

I just picked one of these up off of eBay, slightly more than I was hoping to pay - but it does mean I can listen to Absolute80's on the move!

I need to get the Intravee unit too, but they are far more common than this rare beast, or I may just buy one.

Equipment:
Intravee II - Main Unit
Intravee Switch - Allows 3 inputs into the Intravee
Alpine KCA-420i - Connects any iPod/iPhone
Alpine CHA-S634 - MP3 6 Disc Changer
Alpine TUA-100 - DAB Radio Unit
