Uneven tyre wear and rotating tyres

Well my car has just hit 30k miles and the front are down to 2.5mm and the rears are 4mm. On previous 4x4 I have always rotated the tyres to get even wear, but the advice when I bought it was not to do it on the L405. Now I need to replace all 4 as it's not a good idea to replace just the fronts on a 4x4....next time I am going to rotate between axles every 6k miles (at oil change) and should get 40k miles out of them Smile

Anyone else able to get more than 30k miles out of a set? 2021 L405 Vogue D300

The LR handbook does say not to rotate. Perhaps that is due to TPMS having to be reprogrammed, as it works on the basis of specific wheels in specific positions on the car. Only Range Rovers since 1988

2 tyres = £500

1.4mm difference = maybe 20-20% of that - so £100 to £125 ?

Every 30,000 miles, so say 2 years

So its a 1/2 cup of coffee per week order of magnitude problem Whistle

Don't know about front to back but the LR service sheet for my Westie says that wheels should be swapped side to side at every service. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition

Re side to side swap - wouldn't work if tyres are directional

Re TPMS - wheels/ TPMS valves can be moved to different locations, corners or spare wheel well, on vehicle without any issues from my experience.

Yep I have had differing advice in the past, for my RRS I was told to do an axle rotation every 6k...it worked well and my tyres wore even. 2021 L405 Vogue D300

Changing tyres when they still have 4mm of tread left just seems wasteful, it's not the money per say...just because you can afford it does not mean you can't be economical Confused 2021 L405 Vogue D300
