Bit of advice re K&N style filters

Hi,

My 4.4 o4 stopped working at busy junction today (could have set fire to it but have forgiven now) and mechanic mate came and unplugeed the mass airflow sensor which made it tick over. Horray we can now get home! Little victories. I am however now looking for a new Air Mass flow and have put up a post and just generally wondered if anyone had any advice re these with LPG and also the fact that I noticed mine has a metal K&N style air filter and whether this is a good idea with LPG or not.

I have a K&N airfilter because of space restrictions due to the LPG fit. It works fine (only cost £35 as a special sale item on Ebay.) I also replaced the MAFF (at a cost of £46 + Vat + Labour so get a new one, Pref OEM or bosch.

Did you manage to get a new MAF after?
I'm not sure if you've seen this thread, but after cleaning the cone filter, things seemed to settle down for me.

yes sorted the Maf with a new Bosch one and now fine thanks. Wish id have kept the old one now as maybe woudl have cleaned/got it back working? or once they go are they gone?

Yes, once they are gone they are gone.
But its worth keeping the cone filter clean, every 3-6 months or so.
Clean it in a bucket of soapy water, but make sure it's thoroughly dried before refitting it, ideally with a hot air gun.
And don't even think about oiling it like a K&N filter as that will very quickly destroy the MAF again. 2012 Westminster 4.4 TDV8

Forgot to add.... make sure the filter is thoroughly rinsed of any soap residue too.
Maybe a bit OTT but I used to sit it in a bucket of clean hot water for a while then blast it with the hose pipe afterwards. 2012 Westminster 4.4 TDV8
