Waterproof grease

Its not for use on my Range Rover (hence "Off Topic" post)but something else, sealing an electrical connection on my e-bike which gets wet and dirty and once stopped working as a result.Iits below the pedals and gets wet and dirty all the time (good design would have located it higher up). Has anyone got any recommendations? Geoff

The dealer put Vaseline in the trailer socket on my 2004 322 and that seemed to be effective in keeping it working, compared to the socket on my Classics and P38 which did not have that. I've added it to more recent cars and again no socket failures. But a bicycle is going to be much more delicate, so maybe worth asking the supplying dealer before trying it.

If the connection does not need to be opened and closed regularly you could maybe seal it with Aquasure or similar (wader repair adhesive, sets like soft plastic and should be capable of being cut off with a sharp knife if required). Q however if it would stick to the surfaces being joined. Only Range Rovers since 1988

You need dialectric grease ... easy enough to find online

As above , might need additional steps .. I use the dialectric and heatshrink tubing on motorcycles 4.2 SC - sold , now bought back

Can't use self amalgamating tape, plug needs to be removed from sockets daily. I bought some dielectric grease - just washes off, well that the bit thats left after the bulk of it just drips off.

Its for external sealing against water ingress, so I am back to waterproof grease - any ideas? Geoff

You say the dialectric grease washes off , is this immediately? Or one application doesn’t last as long as you’d like?
Try corrosion block ... opie oils can supply 4.2 SC - sold , now bought back

Took the hint from previous replies and contacted Specialized (bike manufacturer) they suggested Vaseline. Very Happy Geoff

I think there's a misunderstanding about the grease I want, its to seal up the gaps round the plug not the actual plug and socket for which I do use dielectric grease. So its the thickest most waterproof grease I can get hold of. Geoff
