2012 TDV8 4.4 oil leak ???

Hi All, just took delivery of 2012 tdv8 4.4, 85000 miles, got her home and there mwere wiffs of oily smoke coming from under bonnet, seems to be worse when I’ve been giving her the “beans”, if I drive sensibly it’s not so bad, .... there is evidence of oil underneath but no drips, seems to be coming from high up on engine , any suggestions or advice very much appreciated .......

Have a look at the oil leak post a few down from yours. Most likely the oil cooler gaskets or o ring seals on the turbo oil feed pipe. Chris

If you’re doing it yourself, the o rings about half hour max ( Viton o rings on eBay) and cooler gaskets a good afternoons work as the inlet manifold has to come off. Chris

Oil Leak

I have also just bought a TDV8 4.4 96k miles had it a month and a similar oil leak appeared drips from down the back of the engine. It was the oil cooler/ filter housing. Replaced at a main dealers for the glorious sum of £750! Probably just a gasket so next time i'm doing it my self.
All sorted now.

Hmm, the turbo oil feed "O" rings and the cooler gasket almost seem like they should be a service item on these engines - preventative maintenance, if you like.

after inspection by my mechanic it turned out to be the oil seals in the "v" of the engine, not sure exactly which ones but any that were there were replaced and all is now good - hopefully !!!!
thank you for your thoughts & suggestions !!

give it a good blast as I have had the same issue and had multiple parts fitted in the last 6 months, the latest one is that they are fitting a drainage tube which apparently is a Land Rover mod... I have also had all the seals, rings, oil cooler etc replaced and as you say, drive it nicely and it is fine, drive it a bit harder and the smell starts and eventaully smoke from the bonnet...hope yours is fixed though !! I need more help than most...sorry !!
