My 2005 L322 TD6 has an intermittent starting problem.

When I turn the key it seems fine at stage 1 and 2 but when I turn the key to stage3 it "clicks and Buzzes" but nothing else. No starter motor, nothing! If you then turn it on and off for some time it will eventually go. Once started it runs fine and very frustratingly sometimes it will be absolutely fine and start first go.

The starter motor and battery were both replaced just over a year ago and I put on an additional earth strap. All this seemed to cure it but the problem has come back!!!

Please can anyone help.

Sounds like the ignition switch could be the problem. They are a common failure. You can change just the switch at the back of the barrel but it is still £100!
