Deployable Side Steps Removal

I am considering removing the deployable side steps on my 2007 FF S/C. I have rarely used them as I have no problem getting in and out and do find that they need monthly lubrication maintenance and their removal will give me better clearance off road as it is used regularly on farms with lots of mud and ruts. My question is having read the supplementary handbook, which states it is connected to the Terrain Response System, can I just remove the steps and NOT the electrics? Would this affect the TRS? I do not wish to pull apart all the dash/roof area to take out the electrics.

i'm sure it's fused somewhere so pull the fuse out...there's fitting instructions in the wiki that will hopefully help find the relevant fuse.... ... - .- -.

Rip them off and all will be well sir Thumbs Up

You will need two replacement grommets for the sills (where the wiring loom comes through) they will have been removed and binned at point of original fitment. This will allow you to push the two small wiring looms back inside the floor (by your right food when driving & the same on N/S) thus not causing any issues drowning the two loom plugs in mud Thumbs Up

I'd leave the mounting bolts in to preserve the threads... 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

Thanks for all the replies. I will leave the bolts in as mentioned and see about buying the grommets if they are available. 😊 l
