Apologies if this has been posted or asked/answered before, but whenever I have a need to top up or fill the oil, the filler cap is an absolute to undo.
I cant figure out if its sticking or just because its in such an awkward place to get hold of it to turn it, but its a mare to get off every time.

I even resorted to making a 'tool' that fitted over the cap to give me some leverage, but it was so tightly wedged on, the tool bent before it turned the cap.

Soooo, wondered if anyone had any bright ideas or clever ways round it, or is mine the only sticky one?

Would a blocked breather cause an oil drip underneath? I have always had a drip now and then, but lately, its a drip, drip, drip! Ive crawled under but you know what its like trying to find the source of things, hoping to get it on a ramp soon which might help.

Ill be honest, Im running this beast on a real budget so cant afford the 'correct' way to maintain it other than the obvious and necessary things.
I expect Ill get some comments like "If you cant afford it, dont buy it" but I love it never the less, and the tears and money spent is easily outweighed by the joy of her when she is all up and running.

When I say 'tool' it isnt a tool as such, just a couple of bits of metal I bolted together to span the cap and give me something to get a pair of grips on, but it obviously wasnt man enough.

A blocked breather will cause oil leaks and make the cap hard remove. Its why bottles of fizzy drink have the relief channels in the neck. Same thing applies here.
Sounds like you have blocked breather problems to me. Do you get " mayonaisse" collecting under the cap when you do get it off. If so, then definitely look at the breather tubes and valves. Positive pressure in an engine isn't good. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

Mine has always been a bit of a b@gger to undo, usually resort to the plumber's wrench to loosen off. fortunately never use any oil so only have it off at service time  .

I use water pump pliers on full opening. Can't use my hands as they are old a full of pain. Vent is clear and neck is smeared with oil on refit but still sticks.

at least if it's tight it won't come off and spurt oil every where... ... - .- -.

Looking at them now I cant honestly think why it never occurred to me before but that's the good thing about this site, full of good ideas and bloody clever people !!

Now onto the next suggestion, the breather pipes !

Mine is a pain too and there isn't any space for leverage. I had a small rubber strap wrench that worked. It broke so I need another one.
