I posted this a while back, and it's been mostly behaving. Until yesterday and came out of work to find the rear end sitting on the stops.

Weirdly no error - yesterday.

But I have, over the last few weeks been finding this error come up:

C1A06-1C - Right rear height sensor - circuit voltage out of range

Surely related?

I goggled around a bit, found a connector issue on a D3 forum. https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/another-air...29841.html

Might have a dig around underneath this weekend.

Will look for corrosion again as earler replies have suggested ( Thumbs Up ) and but do we think the random rear drop and the rear height sensor issue are connected?

Thoughts very welcome, thanks chaps.
. Cheers, Greg

Haven't been under the car yet but found this in the workshop manual:

Quote:
Periodic Re-leveling
When the vehicle is parked, the air suspension control module 'wakes up' two hours after the ignition was last switched off and then once every twenty four hours. The vehicle height is checked and if the vehicle is not level within a pre-set tolerance, small downwards height adjustments may be made automatically.

Might explain the random drop and how the sensor could be the culprit. It doesn't always drop (hence thread title!) but I want to know if it's a slow leak. I went to the car four times yesterday and measured the height and it was stable all day.

But some days like earlier this week, it will be on the bumps. I think the Periodic Re-leveling coupled with a bad sensor/connection fits the symptoms.

Also the code ^ does not say LH or RH which is weird.

. Cheers, Greg

Hi Team,

Well I finally got around to pulling my rear right weel off, just to do an initial visual check of the sensor.

Found it pretty much like this - the insulation /conduit kinda falling off, and the cables have been spliced sometime in the past. (sssuming the way it looks in the photo is not normal).

I pulled the connector, which looked ok, no signs of corrosion so I hit it with some Contralube contact protection gel and plugged it back in.

I'll see how it goes over the the next few days, but might have to re-do the joints.

Geez it's a big tricky to reach in there, even with the wheel off. Reaching in, stripping and soldering doesn't look that easy...

Any suggestions on best way to repair this very welcome as always.

Cheers,
Greg

The valve is easily unclipped from its 3 pronged mounts then lowered although you might want to remove the liner for best access. I had mine out a week ago when swapping front and rear valve blocks tracking down the reason for the front lowering overnight.

That split conduit is not original as the wires are bare for the last couple of inches.

Just a minor update; as above ^^ I re-plugged the connector with some contact get and lashed up the exposed wires and open conduit with electrical tape two weeks ago.

Whilst it's a bit too soon to add 'solved' to the topic header, I've not had one suspension error on the dash (which was getting more frequent) .

These RSD's were getting more frequent too, one or two a week. But no overnight rear end drops last two weeks either. The daytime one at work was a bit embarrassing. Rolling Eyes

I'll give it a bit longer - touch wood and fingers crossed.

Greg. Cheers, Greg

Greg, why not apply same treatment to remaining tree sensors. it won't hurt none. Very Happy

Definitely Nino, I already did the other side rear. I put this stuff on any connectors I remove, inside or out.

There are others, but I've just used this product for years on boats:

I use CorrosionX, first recommended by Haylands.

Don't know if this is related but I am new to ffrr and coming from disco to ffrr but a lot of disco owners where getting gremlins in the electrics due to using car washes , the high pressure hoses wetting out and corroding connectors mine only got a blast after off roading , but having said that they are all Landrover and as we know they just do what they want and back Again for no reason . I am a big believer in undersealing and mine will be getting the full treatment once I know how she goes , for me it protects electrics and b/pipes etc from corrosion
Cheers henda Thumbs Up

@henda

That is why you will see quite a few FFRR owners on here only wash their cars once a year Wink .
