Potential New Owner with questions....

Hi everyone.
I've been a lurker on here for a while but this is my first post as I don't yet own a FFRR Big Cry

I have just had a near miss with an Overfinch GT FFRR MY10 but something wasn't quite 'right' and given that the car was circa £70k I couldn't ultimately allow my heart to rule my head Sad

I won't disclose full details on an interenet forum, but without teaching anyone to suck eggs, it really is a case of 'caveat emptor' when dealing with some independednt dealers.

Anyone in the market for an Overfinch can feel free to PM me and I'll tell them who to avoid and why!

Anyway. I'm now looking for another car. I can't afford to buy anything that Autobrokers (they now own the Overfinch brand)have for sale, so my plan is to buy a Rangie and then subsequently have the conversion done myself. It's more hassle doing it this way but at least I get to choose the spec of the standard 'donor' car.

It may well even be that I buy a standard car and then not bother to go ahead with the conversion, who knows Question

I have seen a very well specced 3.6TDV8 Autobiography at a main dealers which is up at £62850.00.
If I approach them with finance in place and no p/x what are my chances of buying the vehicle at a straight £60k?

Is buying a 3.6 instead of spending the extra and getting the newer 4.4 going to kill me come re-sale time?

I plan on keeping the vehicle for 3 years or therabouts.

Any opinions gratefully received.

PS I plan on introducing myself properly in the correct thread once I qualify ( i.e. I actually own a FFRR Razz )

Cheers

Andy Brown

My understanding was that nearly all Overfinch cars were Vogues with a few extras. This makes them quite expensive for the spec.

If it is a keeper go for the 4.4 as it has better mpg, lower tax bracket, faster, less roll etc...having said that you can probably get a good deal on a 3.6. The lookers SE in the for sale section looks very good value. *Gone* Discovery3 HSE

Hi kkqd0298.

Thanks for replying.

I do like the look of the LPR 4.4 Vogue SE, but buying it wouldn't leave me enough in the kitty to Overfinch it.

Might have to re-think my plans though and buy new/nearly new and then save up for a while to get the money together for the conversion.

Decisions, decisions.

Andy

I would buy the better car now and do the conversion at a later time. Seems silly to pay the same money for an old car plus body kit as for a new car. Best that you have a test drive with both engines then you can make an informed decision. *Gone* Discovery3 HSE

Thumbs Up

Seems to be the way to go. Just on the LR site acquainting myself with what comes as standard on Vogue and Vogue SE.

LPR car is VGVFM looking at the used 4.4s on Land Rover's site.

Thanks

Andy

Personally I'd go for the LPR car due to the fact it's a 4.4 8sp on a 60 plate, got lots if options and hasnt even reached 500 miles yet, and that's without taking the huge saving into consideration! Whistle

Bodykit can be fitted at a later stage when funds allow and existing 11my wheels can be sold to a forum member her to offset different ones (all LR approved though I assume??!!). Wink

Andy, I'm off today and will be indisposed as of 5 mins time, but feel free to call Matthew or Jeremy on 0208 992 2299 who should be aware of this post. I know they have a busy day ahead therefore I apologise if they are tied up when you call. Ideally try them earlier the better.

Regards,

James Thumbs Up
