Cold Coolant temp, cold blower, m62 4.4 V8 Petrol

Strange one because normally this runs hot....

Since the cold snap the FF has taken some time to get up to temperature and blow warm air.

Pulled out centre vents and fixed my centre console cool warm vent roller which was stiff. Stil cold.

Hooked up fault reader and the coolant temp reads 75 deg max and rad temp 35-40 deg. Normally I'm in the 90s for coolant and 50s for rad.

Any suggestions? It would be nice to get some warm air again!

Check that the bottom hose is getting warm - could be the thermostat is open and or the electric auxiliary cooling pump is not working (If you have one fitted not sure ) also check each side of the rad is getting warm
then if all that lot is ok then it could be the fan is stuck on
(the viscous one )

Thank you Sandy - no fault code on the auxilary coolant pump.

I'll do a paper test on the fan - the coupling is only a year old so I should be good

Crappy thermostat sounds likely so will check the bottom pipe - am I looking for it to be warm or cold? most of the pipes just feel cold!!

Likely an open stat. Fit a lower temp one if you're going to be changing it ( plenty of threads on here)

Even if a viscous fan is stuck, it shouldn't overcool cause a working stat should limit the flow through the rad to keep the engine up at temp.... Which isn't the case here. ... Implying the stat is open. (Imho) V8 or else ...

Opened her up and the stat wasn't stuck open but there was a lot of scale when I flushed and the stat was corroded on the outside.

Unfortunately I couldn't get the lower mod to work but it is now working well with one from Euro Car parts
