Quantum remap inc EGR map out

I'm really close to pulling the trigger on a Quantum remap for my 3.6 and would like to map out the egr's, my question is do you fit the blanks then remap or vice versa?

Hi I had a remap on my VW Golf GTD last week and had the EGR removed,They remove the EGR first and then tell the ECU not to give a fault,By removing the EGR you get nice clean air to mix with your fuel, Which will not effect the cars emission when it has an MOT

If your EGRs are working properly, Quantum can map them out and that is all that is needed.

I am trying to decide if I want a remap, my car is now at 132k and the gearbox is great, but not sure if more torqe is silly at this milage?

Might just get them to map the EGRs out an no remap. Porsche 911 (996)

Not got a LR of any kind at the mo, and got itchy feet.

Ive just had a remap and egr delete and blanking plates, has made a massive difference to the noise and how smooth the car
Is. More power and torque too.

Was done on my drive for £345 all in.

Hmm, so one vote for no blanking plates required and one for fitted, I wonder who is right and this is why I asked the question!

OMW tuning in Essex a really knowledgeable guy called Owen. As far as plates go I have heard when they are mapped closed
They are can still be open a small amount depending on there condition. I spoke to Pete Bell who can map them shut and he said he wouldn't do it without fitting plates, if he says it he is saying it for a reason he knows his stuff.

You need to see that they are closed 100%, you can see this with IID Tool and the Snap On Diag machine.

Mine were closing properly, however a mates were not so he would need to blank his.

£345 is a good price though, if that includes blanking I would go with that.

I thought the EGRs were a 4-5 hour job to get at to remove and put back together again? Porsche 911 (996)

The latest copy of LRM magazine shows you how to blank the egr's. You don't have to remove the egr's just take out the
Exhust tube which is near the top of the V. Took the guy about two hours max for both sides, not a hard job.

Funny, I was only looking at Quantum today. Was wondering about their remap because of the lag my 3.6 TdV8 suffers when setting off from start at a roundabout or give way.

Doesn't help if the head of the valve has fallen off though... Whistle

I had a quantum remap on my 3.6 and they mapped the EGRs out and we didn't fit blanks, it really flew afterwards and felt quicker than my 4.4 also with a remap. Just my personal experience Thumbs Up 2015 4.4 AB

I spoke with our mappers ages ago and was told absolutely NOT to mess with the EGR on either the 3.0 or the 4.4 as it will cause DPF issues... So, please proceed with caution folks
