Knocking noise NS front

Hi All,

First post for me on here. I noticed a knocking noise from the front near side when either on rough ground and or cornerning. I have jacked it up and there is horizontal play in the wheel, I have done some basic reading and bushes seem to be a common fault but also wheel bearings get a mention. Is there anything I can do to identify if it is either? I not the best motor mechanic but I like to have some idea of what I am getting involved with or what I garage might start trying to charge me for. Also any recommendations for good Land Rover mechanics in Kent (England).

Thanks

Steve

Steve,

Most likely culprit will be the bottom ball joint. jack it up, take the wheel off and get a pry bar in between the bottom ball joint and the hub and see if you can detect any movement. It could also be the ARB link, or any of the bushes. I had the same issue and went for replacement of all the arms, the ball joints and the ARB links.

Glen.

any MOT tester should be able to tell you which bush or joint is at fault pal , but as said , bottom ball joint is likely with when you say it knocks
