To put this relatively small mileage into perspective, Highways England ran their Disco 4’s for 3 years and between 250,000 and 320,000 miles, triple shifting every day of the year.

Fantastic, thanks both. That's just what I wanted to hear, not sure the bank manager's going to be best pleased though. |

Bought my 2004 v8 petrol with 135,000 from a renowned member of this forum 7 years ago and ran it problem free until this year when I replaced the chain guides and alternator at 187,000 miles. Engine etc and running gear all still good.

Diseasel I'm afraid. I (nor my clients) could stomach the petrol fuel bills, unfortunately. |

Ah ok. Make sure to have the auto box closely looked at before purchase as the diesel version box is usually made of toffee.. and can give problems if it’s not been looked after properly or has towed heavy loads.... ______________________________

Good advice, thanks. I'm presuming the oil in the 'box would have been changed regularly if it's a full dealer service history? |

Not necessarily, check the written history, receipts etc and don’t take their word for it. If you can take it for a test drive with an experienced Range Rover owner who’ll be able to do the usual trouble inducing checks or book it in to an independent and have them check it.

Simon, you mean the toffee-box on the TD6 right?

It’s the TD6 that has the gearbox valve body made from soft steel, or alloy or whatever it actually is......
