Locking wheel but removal tool stuck

Hi! Any tips for getting the old bolt out??

Put socket in vice
Tap/Bash screwdriver/drift or similar through hole until wheel nut comes out .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Ah Smile

Put one end in a vice

Turn the other end with mole grips or plumber's wrench, attack with hammer to break joint

Alternatively, put it back on the car then you can use the wind up force to un wind ? (then pop something inside the socket so that when you go to undo again the thread does not go to the end and lock it up

Or find a suitable bolt that fits and do the same in the vice

Some heat

Combination of the above.... .

Cant you trap the wheel nut in a vise then turn the removal tool as though you you are tightening the wheel up ?

Ok did thus and it worked. It won’t take out my next lug though!!


Put a load of washers on to stop the bolt going on too tight and plenty of copper slip



That really loosened the tool off, but had to remove the bolt again which tightened it back up - not as much though!
Then with the pipe wrench flat on the floor I could undo it

I suggest you remove all the locking wheel nuts, chuck them in the bin and replace with standard wheel nuts.
No one steals wheels from vehicles anymore, they just take the whole car.

Once had a flat on my old D3 which luckily happenend on my driveway. When I tried to undo the locking wheel nut it sheared internally and just spun.

I had to cut the piece that was spinning off with a dremal tool and then hammer a socket on the stub that was left. All in all it took around 2.5 hours. Imagine if I had been on a country lane at night in the middle of winter? I would have been totally Censored !
