WINDSCREEN REPAIR

Sorry for the whole story...

This might seem negligible but I was driving to work this morning and drove past some road works where they were using a pneumatic drill to dig the road... due to the the drilling I had a stone hit my windscreen, I didn't think much of it, but after getting into work and checking it, it has chipped the windscreen!! Crying or Very sad Mad Its not that big a chip or obvious, but to me it is...

Anyway, I spoke to a windscreen repair company and they said it was too small to repair. But there must be something on the market for this sort of things??

Anybody have any suggesstions??

Thanks

I suppose it depends on where the chip is - If on the driver's side obscuring your view - then yes, it should be repaired.

I phoned my insurance company, most of which offer free winscreen chip repair (by means of injecting a resin into the chip) before it propagates into a more expensive crack. They would ultimately task the repairing agency to carry out the work on the screen.

Still noticeable, but restores structural integrity of the screen around the damaged area apparently. Smile

bosh it with a big hammer, have done with it and get a new windscreen Wink only problem is a mate did this - the new screen didn't fit properly, his wipers wouldn't park properly anymore and it whistled like poo on the motorway. Mind you, he is a bit of an obsessive tosser when it comes to tiny things that wouldn't normally bother mentally balanced people - his girlfried calls it being anal Shocked Sheep Rolling with laughter

Yours sounds like a tiny chip and not a crack - I'd just live with it. The cure is often worse than the symptom in situations like this...

Thanks everyone!

You are probably right..... just live with it and if it cracks replace it. I however did like the analogy "The cure is often worse than the symptom in situations like this...

Thanks!!

Contrary to the other opinions I would have it fixed. Small nicks can "blossom" into larger ones. A small nick does effect the integrity of the windscreen. Better to spend the 60 bucks (US) and protect yourself and your occupants in case of a crash. Also, the cost of the heated screen isn't cheap. 08 FFRR

Heated windscreen costs £70 to replace on my insurance policy...

But, better to try and repair first (free) - avoiding a potential can of worms. You never know!
